Think Pink
Walk, talk, party, or shop, there are soooo many ways to make a difference this October for Breast Cancer Awareness Month!

Style for the Cure. This month-long event held at the Mall at Short Hills will feature breast cancer education, advocacy materials, and merchandise. During October, for every Mall at Short Hills’ gift certificate purchased, $5 will be donated to the Komen North Jersey Affiliate. Donors will receive a special keepsake cosmetic pouch (while supplies last) as a thank you.

Tie a Ribbon. The Tie a Ribbon Campaign uses eight-foot pink ribbons tied around trees throughout participating towns to raise awareness. Ribbons are available at the Komen North Jersey Affiliate, 785 Springfield Avenue, Summit, or by calling 908-277-2904.

Pink Tie Ball®. This year’s theme is “Illuminating the Promise in Newark.” The ball is Saturday, Oct. 27 at NJPAC. For information, call 908-277-2904, ext 26; njapinktieball.org

Passionately Pink for the Cure™. Recruit your co-workers, religious or social group, school, friends, and family members this October and pick a day to wear pink and make a $5 (or more) personal donation to Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

Artists plant seeds of hope Twelve artists exhibit work inspired by life-changing events, including cancer. For information, call 908-277-8834. Reception Oct. 4; runs through January.

The special edition THINKTHIN bar dressed in a pink wrapper is available in four delicous flavors: white chocolate raspberry, peanut butter caramel, blueberry dark chocolate and lemon burst. $1.68 at Whole Foods. 10 cents from every bar sold will benefit Susan B. Komen for the Cure with a minimum guaranteed donation of $10,000.
