Makeovers for Real Women

Robin Holleran entrusted her makeover to the pros. Artistic director Tom Harris of Panico Salon & Spa in West Caldwell, Ridgewood and Oradell; style editor Susan Brierly of Park Place; and makeup artist Eden Fabbo of Panico deliver dramatic results.

Preparing for this first in a series of “Susan on Style,” aka S.O.S., makeovers, I immediately thought of my friend, Robin Holleran, 50, of Mendham. This vivacious, sporty woman is the first to admit that she doesn’t take time for herself while managing three kids, ages 15, 17 and 19; working full time as a business writer; volunteering in her community; and appearing locally as a motivational speaker. People enjoy hearing Holleran’s story of surviving a plane crash, nursing a broken back, and climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro four years later. This intrepid single mom had never blown out her hair or worn foundation on her face until now. “My friends don’t even recognize me. I couldn’t have pulled this off on my own,” Holleran says, “but I love my new look!”

Tom Harris of Panico Salon & Spa (; 973-364-9600) created a chic new look for Holleran with warm color, highlights and an easy-care hair style. Harris is the makeover designer for Modern Salon magazine and a master associate for John Paul Mitchell Systems. Panico associate Eden Fabbo treated Holleran to eyebrow waxing and airbrushed makeup, while Julie Rahm polished off the look with a perfect manicure.
