RARE FINDS: High-end estate jewelry is ready to be snatched up..

After fifteen years in business, Lynn Meisler, owner of Duet, a top-of-the-line resale store in Livingston, says that trust is the main reason for her success.

“We give all the information to people so that they can have an educated choice whether they want to sell,” she says. While trust also factors into buyers’ decisions to shop at Duet, perhaps the more tangible reason is the shop’s overwhelming stock of authenticated high-end hangbags, clothes, jewelry, and accessories.

“You come here to treat yourself to something special, to indulge a little bit, still at about half of what you’d pay anywhere else,” says Meisler.

But the 51-year-old Montclair resident is quick to clarify that consignment does not necessarily mean second-hand or used. “The term consignment is simply a financial arrangement between the seller, the agent, and a buyer,” says Meisler. “So Duet is a place for the most luxurious fashion items in the world to be sold on that basis.”

At any one time, Duet may have pieces from Dior, Chanel, Hermés, Bulgari, Prada, Armani, Cartier, Fendi, Louis Vuitton, Van Cleef & Arpels, and other coveted labels.

Duet also sells unique estate jewelry through its luxury jewelry arm, Rush. “You won’t see production pieces or 14K gold in our cases,” says Meisler.  “After fifteen years, we know what the best is. And we know what women want.”
